DFA reports 55 more COVID-19 recoveries among Filipinos abroad

Additional 3,714 COVID-19 cases push PHL tally to 232,072

(Eagle News)– COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 232,000 mark after the Department of Health reported an additional 3,714 cases. Of these, the DOH said 67,786 were active, of which 90.7 percent were mild, 6.9 percent asymptomatic, 0.9 percent severe, and 1.4 percent critical. Customs bureau seizes P88.1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes from China

(Eagle News) –The Bureau of Customs has seized P88.1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes from China. In a statement, the bureau said the cigarettes, contained in two containers,  arrived separately on Aug. 8 and 13. The shipments–one with 851 cases of cigarettes, and the other with 911 cases–had been declared as containing umbrella and various home furniture. (Eagle News) — Former Ozamiz City councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog was found dead inside the city police’s detention facility on Friday, Sept. 4, the Philippine National Police said. According to the PNP spokesperson Lt. Gen. DFA: Over 1000 overseas Filipinos repatriated in recent days

(Eagle News)–Over 1000 overseas Filipinos were repatriated amid the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday and Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. According to the DFA, of the at least 1391, 361 came from Beirut, Lebanon; 180 from Macau; over 200 from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; over 500 from Qatar; and around 150 from LA, in the United States. DOH reports less than 2,000 additional COVID-19 cases; total at 228,403

(Eagle News) — The number of COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 228,000 mark on Thursday, Sept. 3, after the Department of Health reported 1,987 additional cases.
