(Eagle News)–A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Oriental Mindoro early Thursday, Aug. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:38 a.m. The epicenter was 14 kilometers southwest of Bansud. The depth of focus was 10 kilometers. Cotabato Airport resumes flight operations

(Eagle News)–The Cotabato Airport has resumed flight operations following the completion of some critical asphalt overlay runway work. The Department of Transportation said the airport can, in particular, again accommodate flights from 6 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. The remaining overlay work for the full completion of the P340.55-million project shall resume in the remaining hours of the day, the DOTr said. (Eagle News)–A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes on Sunday, August. 13 The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 9:43 a.m. The epicenter was 38 kilometers southwest of Sabtang. The depth of focus was 10 kilometers. The following instrumental intensity was reported: Intensity I – Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte No damage to property was reported. PHIVOLCS: Slow lava effusion from Mayon crater still observed

(Eagle News)–Mayon Volcano’s intensified activity continued on Sunday, Aug. 6, as a slow effusion of lava from the crater  continued to feed the already-existing lava flows on the Bonga, Mi-isi, and Basud gullies. 45 rockfall events, 40 volcanic quakes monitored in Mayon in last 24 hours: PHIVOLCS

(Eagle News)–Forty-five rockfall events were monitored in Mayon in the last 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. Apart from these, PHIVOLCS said monitored were 40 volcanic earthquakes. A slow effusion of lava flow spanning 2.8 and 3.1 kilometers along Mi-si and Bonga gullies was also monitored.
