4.0-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Thursday, March 28. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:35 a.m. Its epicenter was 261 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The depth of focus was 75 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.0-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Friday, March 22. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 8:19 a.m. The epicenter was 214 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The depth of focus was 94 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.1-magnitude quake hits Cagayan

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Cagayan on Saturday, March 16. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 5:20 p.m. Its epicenter was 84 kilometers northwest of Calayan. The depth of focus was 25 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Friday, March 15. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 7:31 a.m. Its epicenter was 95 kilometers northeast of Cagwait. The depth of focus was 18 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Tuesday, March 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 12:21 p.m. Its epicenter was 125 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos. The depth of focus was 40 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.3-magnitude earthquake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Wednesday, March 6. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 5:19 p.m. Its epicenter was 62 kilometers southeast of Marihatag. The depth of focus was 31 kilometers. No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were expected.

4.8-magnitude earthquake strikes off Surigao del Sur early Friday

(Eagle News)–A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Friday, March 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:24 a.m. Its epicenter was 90 kilometers southeast of Marihatag. The depth of focus was five kilometers. The following intensities were reported: Intensity II – Marihatag, Surigao del Sur Intensity I – City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.  

PHIVOLCS reports ‘elevated sulfur dioxide degassing’ at Taal

(Eagle News)– The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Thursday, Feb. 29, said there was an “elevated sulfur dioxide degassing” at Taal Volcano. In its advisory, PHIVOLCS said the 14558 tons measured on the day was the second highest flux recorded this year. Taal, which remains on alert level 1, also averaged approximately 9450 tons per day for the month of February and has been continuously degassing “voluminous concentrations” since 2001, it said. (Eagle News)–A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Samar early Sunday, Feb. 25. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 2:47 a.m. Its epicenter was 12 kilometers southwest of Jipapad. The depth of focus was 37 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were reported: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity II – Villareal, Samar; Dulag, Leyte; Mapanas, Northern Samar Intensity I – Basey, Samar No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were expected.
