4.7-magnitude earthquake strikes off Eastern Samar early Friday

(Eagle News) — A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Eastern Samar early Friday, Sept. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:26 a.m. The epicenter was 64 kilometers northeast of San Policarpio. The following instrumental intensity was reported: Intensity I – City of Borongan, Eastern Samar No damage to property nor aftershock was reported.  

PHIVOLCS: Renewed slow effusion of lava monitored in Mayon

(Eagle News)–A renewed slow effusion of lava was monitored in Mayon on Wednesday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. According to PHIVOLCS, the slow effusion was seen beginning 8:49 p.m. With the effusion, PHIVOLCS said  advanced lava flow was detected in the Bonga, Mi-isi and Bangud gullies and generated incandescent rockfall within two kilometers from the summit crater. (Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Masbate on Sunday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 6:21 a.m. The epicenter was 11 kilometers northeast of the city. (Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Samar on Sunday, Sept. 17. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 12:12 p.m. The epicenter was 12 kilometers southwest of Llorente. The depth of focus was 23 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were also reported: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity II – Tandag, Surigao del Sur Intensity I – Quinapondan, Eastern Samar; Alangalang and Dulag, Leyte No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

(Eagle News)–A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Sunday, Sept. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 399 kilometers southeast of  Balut Island at 1:42 p.m. The depth of focus was 148 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

Vog observed in Taal Volcano; alert level 1 still in place

(Eagle News)–Vog was observed in Taal  in the last 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. According to PHIVOLCS, also observed in the volcano, which remains on alert level 1, were 1141 tons per day of sulfur dioxide flux and an upwelling of hot volcanic fluids, particularly in the main crater lake. A 2000-meter-tall plume was also monitored, along with eight volcanic earthquakes including two volcanic tremors two to three minutes long. […]

(Eagle News)–A 4.4- magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 8:07 a.m. The epicenter was 320 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The quake was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes off Masbate early Saturday, Sept. 2

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Masbate early Saturday, Sept. 2. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake hit 10 km southeast of Pio V. Corpus at 12:03 a.m. The depth of focus was 12 km. The following instrumental intensities were reported: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity II – Kawayan, Biliran Intensity I – Maripipi, Biliran; Calubian, Leyte No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.
