BuCor chief Bantag tests positive for COVID-19

(Eagle News) — Bureau of Corrections Director-General Gerald Bantag has tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmation came two days after the BuCor announced its spokesperson, Gabriel Chaclag, tested positive for the virus. (Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Monday, Sept. 21. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 7:14 a.m., was an aftershock of the 6.1-magnitude quake that hit the province  early in the day. DFA says 185,650 Filipinos repatriated since February

(Eagle News)–Over 185,000 Filipinos abroad have been repatriated since February, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. According to the DFA, of the 185,650, 120602 or 64.96 percent were land-based and 65048 or 35.04 percent were sea-based. This week, the DFA said most of the repatriates were from the Middle East, at 8132. Arrivals from Europe have reached 1299, including  three medical cases from Turkey, Spain and Malta; 1089 from the Americas; and 981 from Asia. […]

37 more police personnel recover from COVID-19

(Eagle News)–Thirty-seven more police personnel have recovered from COVID-19, the Philippine National Police said on Sunday night. With the additional recoveries, the PNP said the recovery tally climbed to 4046. Thirty-four additional COVID-19 cases, however, brought the total to 5392. Of these, the PNP said 1329 were active. DFA reports 4 more COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad

  (Eagle News)–The Department of Foreign Affairs has reported  four more COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, the DFA said on Sunday, Sept. 20. The department said with the additional cases from the Asia Pacific region, COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad have climbed to 10,390. COVID-19 cases in PHL reach 286,743; 20,021 more recoveries reported

(Eagle News)–COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 286,000 mark on Sunday, Sept. 20, after the Department of Health reported an additional 3311 cases. The DOH said of the 286743, 51894 were active. Of these, 86.6 percent were mild, 8.7 percent asymptomatic, 1.4 percent severe, and 3.3 percent critical. ICT department reiterates need for National Broadband Program

(Eagle News)–The Department of Information and Communications Technology reiterated the need for a government-owned national fiber network even as it noted improvements in the country’s Internet speed. Customs bureau seizes P1.1 million worth of kush marijuana in coffee packs

(Eagle News)–The Bureau of Customs has seized P1.1 million worth of kush marijuana from the port of Clark. In a statement, the bureau said the 980 grams of the illegal drugs were concealed in packs of imported coffee from California.
