3.7-magnitude quake hits Davao Oriental

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Friday, Oct. 2. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 5:53 a.m., had its epicenter 86 kilometers northeast of Baganga. It had a depth of 22 kilometers, and was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

No tsunami threat to PHL following 6.4-magnitude quake off Tonga

(Eagle News)–There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the 6.4-magnitude earthquake off Tonga. This is according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, which issued the advisory on Thursday, Oct. 1, only minutes after the quake struck 210 kilometres northeast of the country’s capital, Nuku’alofa. The US Geological Survey earlier reported a 6.7-magnitude earthquake. Residents in the capital said they felt the earthquake but reported no damage.

4.2-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Thursday, Oct. 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 5:53 a.m., had its epicenter 65 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of four kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

11 quakes, steam emissions monitored at Taal; alert level 1 still in place

(Eagle News)–Eleven volcanic earthquakes were reported at Taal in 24 hours. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said steam emissions were also observed at the volcano, which remains on alert level 1. 3.6-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Saturday, Sept. 26. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 11:33 a.m., had its epicenter 112 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 23 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.5-magnitude earthquake jolts Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Norte on Friday, Sept. 25. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 5:52 p.m., had its epicenter 71 kilometers northeast of Burgos. It had a depth of 16 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

5.0-magnitude aftershock hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News) — A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 10:25 a.m., was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Bayabas on Sept. 21. PHIVOLCS said the 5.0-magnitude quake had its epicenter 91 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 46 kilometers. No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were.

4.0-magnitude earthquake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Norte on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 7:32 a.m., had its epicenter 40 kilometers northeast of Burgos. It had a depth of 19 kilometers. Instrumental intensity I was recorded in Surigao City. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.5-magnitude quake strikes off Masbate

(Eagle News)–A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Masbate on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 12:05 p.m., had its epicenter 20 kilometers northwest of Cataingan. It had a depth of 10 kilometers. 8 quakes, steam and sulfur dioxide emissions monitored at Kanlaon; alert level 1 stays

(Eagle News)–Eight volcanic earthquakes were monitored at Kanlaon in 24 hours. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said steam and sulfur dioxide emissions were also monitored at the volcano, which remains on alert level 1. 3.9-magnitude quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:52 a.m., had its epicenter 117 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. PHIVOLCS said this was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude quake that struck Bayabas on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The quake had a depth of one kilometer. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

(Eagle News) — A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:23 a.m., had its epicenter 10 kilometers northeast of Banaybanay. It had a depth of 56 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
