3.5-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 66 kilometers southeast of General Luna at 7:33 a.m. Depth of focus was 13 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

Rainfall advisory hoisted over parts of N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–A rainfall advisory has been hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said light to moderate rains are being experienced over Babuyan Island, Calayan Island, Camiguin Island, Dalupiri Island, Fuga Island and in Aparri, Baggao and Ballesteros in Cagayan. PAGASA said the conditions may persist for one to two hours. “Residents along mountain slopes are advised against possible landslides and flash floods,” PAGASA said.

3.4-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 11 kilometers northwest of Socorro at 6:53 a.m. Depth of focus was 77 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Thunderstorm advisory hoisted over parts of N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms are expected over Dalupiri, Fuga, and Apayao, particularly in Flora and Santa Marcela, and in Cagayan, particularly in Alcala, Lasam and Santo Niño within 30 minutes to an hour. Plane crashes in private resort in Calamba, Laguna

At least two reported injured (Eagle News)–A private plane crashed in Calamba, Laguna on Sunday, Sept. 1. Two people were reportedly  injured after the two-seater plane crashed at Agojo private resort in Purok 6, Miramonte Subdivision, Barangay Pansol around 3 p.m. The crash caused an explosion and a fire, a police report said. Authorities are still probing the incident.      

4.5-magnitude quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Sunday, Sept. 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers northeast of Cortes at 7:48 a.m. Depth of focus was 13 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

JUST IN: 5.1-magnitude quake hits Davao Oriental

(Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 10 kilometers southeast of Baculin at 9:02 p.m. Depth of focus was 25 kilometers. The following intensities were felt: Intensity II – Bislig City, Mati City Instrumental Intensity II – Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental Aftershocks are expected, PHIVOLCS said.

2 hurt in plane crash off Nasugbu, Batangas

(Eagle News)–Two people were injured after a plane crashed off Nasugbu, Batangas on Saturday, Aug. 31.
