President Duterte visits young cancer patients at Davao hospital

(Eagle News)-President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, Dec. 28, visited young cancer patients in a Davao hospital. The President gave away presents to the children at the Southern Philippines Medical Center Children’s Cancer Institute, accompanied by Senator Bong Go. It has been the President’s tradition to give presents to young cancer patients during the holidays even before he became President. Duterte is spending the holidays with his family in Davao.  

3.3-magnitude quake hits Sarangani

(Eagle News)-A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Sarangani on Sunday, Dec. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 19 kilometers northwest of Malungon at 3:43 a.m. Depth of focus was 30 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were recorded: Intensity I -Tupi, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Rainshowers forecast in parts of PHL today

(Eagle News)-Rainshowers are expected in parts of the country today. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms as the tail-end of a cold front affects extreme Northern Luzon. 4.0-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)-A 4.0-magnitude quake struck off Davao Occidental waters on Saturday, Dec. 28. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the epicenter of the quake, of tectonic origin, was 175 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos at  4:38 p.m. Depth of focus was 9 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Lorenzana wants probe of picture of rebel-returnees in Masbate

(Eagle News)–Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has ordered a probe into what a Philippine Army unit has admitted was a manipulated picture of surrendering rebels. Fire hits residential area in Pandacan, Manila

(Eagle News)-A fire hit a residential area in Pandacan, Manila on Saturday, Dec. 28. The Manila fire department said the blaze on Balagtas St.in  began at 9:59 a.m. The Manila Public Information Office said in a Tweet that the blaze has so far reached the  fifth alarm. Firefighters are currently in the scene to put out the fire.

NGCP: At least 59 transmission structures damaged by “Ursula”

(Eagle News)-At least 59 transmission structures were damaged by “Ursula,” the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said. According to the NGCP, apart from the 59, 14 towers were also damaged. As of Friday evening, the NGCP said the Nabas-Culasi 69kV Line has alreasy been restored. SWS: 96 percent of Filipinos welcoming the New Year with hope
