The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 8:27 a.m. had its epicenter 3 kilometers northeast of Calaca. PHIVOLCS said the depth of focus was 6 kilometers. An intensity II was felt in Tagaytay. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the 500-meter lava fountains and dark gray plumes approximately 2 kilometers tall were due to magmatic and hydrovolcanic activity for the past 24 hours.
