(Eagle News)-A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over parts of Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms are expected over Sarangani and  Sultan Kudarat within one to two hours. 3.3-magnitude quake strikes Batangas

(Eagle News)–A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 8:27 a.m. had its epicenter 3 kilometers northeast of Calaca. PHIVOLCS said the depth of focus was 6 kilometers. An intensity II was felt in Tagaytay. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Alert level 4 still hoisted over Taal volcano as it continues to generate lava fountains, steam-laden plumes

(Eagle News)–An alert level 4 remains hoisted over Taal as it continues to generate lava fountains and steam-laden plumes. In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the 500-meter lava fountains and dark gray plumes  approximately 2 kilometers tall were due to magmatic and hydrovolcanic activity for the past 24 hours. (Eagle News)-A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas on Monday, Jan. 13. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 7:48 p.m., had its epicenter 8 kilometers southwest of Laurel. Depth of focus was 5 kilometers. The following intensity and instrumental intensity were recorded: Intensity:Intensity III – Tagaytay City Instrumental Intensity:Intensity III – Tagaytay City No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
