(Eagle News)–Bulusan volcano has recorded 17 volcanic earthquakes since May 7, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Tuesday, May 9. PHIVOLCS said the earthquakes occurred at depths of 0 to 5.2 kilometers beneath the eastern section of the volcano. (Eagle News)–A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Tuesday, May 9. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 8:13 a.m. The epicenter was 331 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The depth of focus was 34 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.5-magnitude earthquake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Wednesday, May 3. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 196 kilometers east of Balut Island at 9:23 a.m. The depth of focus was 107 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.  

PHL to “greatly benefit” from agency modernization bill: PHIVOLCS chief

(Eagle News)–Filipinos will greatly benefit from the passage of a Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology modernization bill.
