Over 4,000 additional COVID-19 cases push PHL tally to 257,863

(Eagle News)–COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 257,000 mark on Saturday, Sept. 12, after the Department of Health reported over 4,000 additional cases. The DOH said of the  257,863 total cases, 66,455 were active. Of these, 89.2 percent were mild, 8.2 percent asymptomatic, 1.1 percent severe, and 1.2 percent critical. Of the 4,935 newly-reported cases, 2,619 were from Metro Manila, 343 from Cavite, 258 from Laguna, 227 from Rizal, and 177 from Negros Occidental. […]

3.7-magnitude quake strikes off La Union early Saturday

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck off La Union early Saturday, Sept. 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 3:49 a.m., had its epicenter 25 kilometers northwest of San Fernando. It had a depth of 61 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

PNP reports 111 COVID-19 recoveries in a day

(Eagle News)–The Philippine National Police has reported over 100 COVID-19 recoveries in one day. According to the PNP, as of Friday night, the tally of recoveries among police personnel has reached 3507, 111 recoveries more than the 3396 reported on Thursday night. Col. Ysmael Yu formally assumes post as PNP spokesperson
