5.0-magnitude quake hits Zambales

(Eagle News)–A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Zambales on Friday, March 13. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6 a.m., had its epicenter 123 kilometers southwest of San Antonio. It had a depth of focus of 27 kilometers. No damage to property was expected, but aftershocks were.

PHIVOLCS raises alert level on Kanlaon due to increased seismic activity, swelling of volcano

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has raised an alert level 1 over Mt. Kanlaon due to what it said was  increased seismic activity and the swelling of the volcano. Alert level 1 means the volcano is in an abnormal state. In its advisory, PHIVOLCS said Kanlaon volcano’s seismic monitoring network recorded a total of 80 volcanic earthquakes since March 9.   (Eagle News) — A returning seaman from Imus, Cavite who had passed through Narita Airport in Japan had tested positive for the novel 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Cavite confirms first COVID-19 case

(Eagle News) — Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday, March 10, announced the province’s first confirmed coronavirus disease case. In a Facebook post, Remulla said the case was a returning seaman from Imus who passed through Narita airport in Japan. Thunderstorm advisory hoisted over parts of Mindanao

(Eagle News) — A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over parts of Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Zamboanga City within the next 30 minutes to 1 hour. These conditions, PAGASA said, are being experienced in Basilan. “All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impact associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said.
