DA: Bird flu detected in Nueva Ecija barangay

(Eagle News)–The H5N6 avian influenza or bird flu has been detected in a barangay in Nueva Ecija, the Department of Agriculture said on Monday, March 16. 3.7-magnitude quake hits Masbate; no damage to property, aftershocks recorded

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck Masbate on Monday, March 16. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:07 a.m., had its epicenter 27 kilometers southwest of Claveria. It had a depth of focus of 26 kilometers. The following instrumental intensity was recorded: Instrumental Intensity: Intensity I – Mulanay, Quezon No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Cavite confirms second COVID-19 case

(Eagle News)–Cavite on Sunday, March 15, confirmed its second case of the 2019 coronavirus disease. In a Facebook post, Gov. Jonvic Remulla said the patient was a medical practitioner. Imus mayor: Cavite’s first confirmed COVID-19 case in stable condition

(Eagle News)–The first confirmed novel coronavirus case in Cavite is now in stable condition. Imus Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi said patient number 20, a seaman who hails from Imus, has responded well to treatment. Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla earlier said the 48-year-old man who had passed through Narita airport in Japan was confined in the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. Northeast monsoon affects extreme N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–The northeast monsoon is affecting extreme Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as a result, Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. The entire Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds, PAGASA said, will prevail over the entire Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro with slight to moderate seas.
