4.6-magnitude quake hits Zambales

(Eagle News)– A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck Zambales on Thursday, March 19. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 2:49 p.m., had its epicenter 30 kilometers southwest of San Felipe. It had a depth of focus of 25 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were recorded: Intensity III – Olongapo City Intensity I – Guagua, Pampanga No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

3.7-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental; no damage to property recorded

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Thursday, March 19. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 4:58 a.m., had its epicenter 14 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos. It had a depth of focus of 179 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded. (Eagle News Service)

PHIVOLCS lowers Taal alert level due to low-level volcanic quake activity, weak emissions

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has lowered the alert level on Taal after it noted low-level volcanic earthquake activity and weak emissions of steam-laden plumes, among others. 5.2-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental; no damage to property recorded

Aftershocks expected (Eagle News)–A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Wednesday, March 18. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 11:13, had its epicenter 384 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. Depth of focus was 117 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Alabel, Sarangani. No damage to property was expected, but aftershocks were.

(Eagle News)–The H5N6 avian influenza or bird flu has been detected in a barangay in Nueva Ecija, the Department of Agriculture said on Monday, March 16.
