Negros Oriental governor hurt in Pamplona shooting

(Eagle News)–Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo was hurt in a shooting incident on Saturday, March 4. Authorities said several civilians were also hurt when the suspects attacked in Barangay San Isidro, Pamplona past 9 a.m. Degamo was reportedly attending a 4Ps event when the incident occurred. The Police Regional Office-7 said witnesses described the suspects “in full battle gear” and in “pixelized uniform.” The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital. An investigation is underway.

(Eagle News) — More than 100 people were rescued after a vessel ran aground off Bohol on Tuesday, the Philippine Coast Guard said on Wednesday, March 1. According to the PCG, the 141 people on board MV Starlite Saturn, which figured in the maritime incident off Danajon Bank, Calituban, Talibon,  are safe and are in good physical condition. (Eagle News) — A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Tuesday, March 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 4:11 a.m. The epicenter was 43 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan. The depth of focus was 22 kilometers. (Eagle News)– A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Masbate on Sunday, Feb. 26. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 10:51 a.m. It said it was an aftershock of the 6.0-magnitude quake that hit Batuan on Feb. 16. The epicenter of Sunday’s quake was four kilometers southwest of Batuan. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.
