(Eagle News) — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 11:35 p.m. It had its epicenter 79 kilometers northwest of Itbayat. The depth of focus was 32 kilometers. PHIVOLCS: Highest sulfur dioxide emission recorded at Taal on Oct. 5

(Eagle News) — Taal volcano emitted 25,456 tons on Tuesday, Oct. 5, the “highest ever recorded volcanic sulfur dioxide or SO2 gas flux,” according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
