4.2-magnitude quake strikes off Negros Occidental

(Eagle News) — A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Aug. 31. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 1:12 p.m. It had its epicenter 54 kilometers southwest of Hiinoba-an. The depth of focus was 33 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were reported: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity III – Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Intensity I – Bago City, Negros Occidental No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

52 quakes monitored in Taal; alert level 2 stays

(Eagle News) — Fifty-two volcanic earthquakes were monitored in Taal in 24 hours. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quakes at the volcano, which remains on alert level 2, included 23 tremors lasting one to five minutes and a weak background tremor. 3.8-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Oriental

(Eagle News) — A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Sunday, Aug. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake–an aftershock of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the area on Aug. 12–hit at 6:56 a.m. It had its epicenter 116 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso. The depth of focus was 51 kilometers. According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake was tectonic in origin. No damage to property was reported.  

4.8-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental early Friday, Aug. 27

(Eagle News) — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Friday, Aug. 27. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 4:39 a.m. It had its epicenter 106 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos. The depth of focus was 77 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

5.0-magnitude quake strikes Zamboanga Sibugay

(Eagle News) — A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday, Aug. 25. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 8:03 p.m. It had its epicenter nine kilometers southeast of Ulotanga. The depth of focus was 23 kilometers. (Eagle News) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Wednesday, Aug. 25. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 2:17 a.m. It had its epicenter 273 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. The depth of focus was 112 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

Bulusan volcano back to “normal” alert level

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has lowered the alert level of Bulusan to “normal” following a “general decline in monitoring parameters.” According to PHIVOLCS, in particular, volcanic earthquake activity declined to the baseline level of two to three earthquakes per day between July 1 and Aug. 17, during which a total of only 109 weak events were recorded. (Eagle News) — A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Sunday, Aug. 15: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake — an aftershock of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Governor Generoso  on Aug. 12 — struck at 3:22 a.m. It had its epicenter 164 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso and was tectonic in origin. The depth of focus was eight kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

5.3-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Oriental early Saturday, Aug. 14

(Eagle News) — A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Saturday, Aug. 14. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake–an aftershock of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Governor Generoso on Aug. 12–hit at 4:17 a.m. It had its epicenter 170 kilometers southeast of Tarragona. (Eagle News) –A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Friday, Aug. 13. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck at 4:28 a.m. It had its epicenter 119 kilometers southeast of Tarragona. The depth of focus was 13 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.
