The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which took place at 8:34 a.m., had its epicenter 6 kilometers northwest of Laurel. It had a depth of focus of one kilometer. (Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas on Monday, Aug. 19. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 18 kilometers southwest of Calatagan at 10:55 a.m. Depth of focus was 114 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
