Mild 3.6-magnitude quake hits Cotabato

(Eagle News) — A mild 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck Cotabato early Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 11 kilometers southwest of Makilala at 3:58 a.m. Depth of focus was 25 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded. Under the Richter scale, earthquakes ranging from magnitudes 3.0 to 3.9 are felt but rarely cause damage.

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Monday, Nov. 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 126 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at 2:03 a.m. Depth of focus was 11 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News) — Classes were suspended in at least one area on Tuesday, Nov. 5, following the series of earthquakes that rocked Mindanao: Koronadal City — all levels, public and private schools A 6.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Mindanao on Thursday, Oct. 31, only two days after a 6.6-magnitude one hit the region. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said at least 21 people have been killed in the two earthquakes.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Zambales within the next 30 minutes to one hour. “All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said.  

3.8-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Monday, Nov. 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 17 kilometers southeast of Marihatag at 7:52 a.m. Depth of focus was 35 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks are expected.

Classes in Davao City to resume on Tuesday, Nov. 5
