5.1-magnitude quake hits Eastern Visayas

(Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Visayas on Friday, Nov. 8.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 33 kilometers southwest of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 1:31 p.m.

The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

Intensity IV – Borongan City
Intensity III – Palo, Leyte and San Francisco, Southern Leyte
Intensity II – Surigao City
Intensity I – Ormoc City; Gingoog City

No damage to property was expected but aftershocks are.
