(Eagle News) — COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 296,000 mark on Thursday, Sept. 24, after the Department of Health reported additional 2180 cases. The DOH said of the 296,755 total cases, 59,700 were active. Of these, 86.6 percent were mild, 9.2 percent asymptomatic, 1.3 percent severe, and 2.9 percent critical. (Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:19 a.m., was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Bayabas on Sept. 21. The 5.1-magnitude quake had its epicenter 99 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 24 kilometers. No damage to property was expected, but aftershocks were.
