(Eagle News)–The 24/7 construction of the Bicol International Airport will start in July. In a statement, the Department of Transportation said this was so the government could meet its target completion date of within the year for priority facilities set by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade. PHIVOLCS: 6 volcanic earthquakes, 2 rockfall events recorded at Mayon in last 24 hours

Albay official seeks permanent relocation site for families displaced by Mayon eruption

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office chief Cedric Daep has asked Congress to create a permanent relocation site for 3,000 families living near Mayon Volcano. Daep also said that the six-kilometer zone around Mayon Volcano was declared a “no-settlement zone” because of the volcano’s sudden and unpredictable activities. “We need Congress to enact a law to relocate those staying inside the permanent danger zone,” Daep said.
