Phivolcs notes low Mayon volcanic activity in past few days

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – The the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that it would lower the alert level for Mount Mayon if the volcano’s decreased activity would continue in the next few weeks.

According to PHIVOLCS, although Mayon volcano continues to spew ash, there is no significant increase in volcanic activity for Mt. Mayon in the past few days.

PHIVOLCS chief volcanologist Ed Laguerta said that although the volcano was showing low abnormal activity, it remains dangerous as lava continues to flow in its mouth, signifying continuous activity within the volcano.
