Albay official seeks permanent relocation site for families displaced by Mayon eruption

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office chief Cedric Daep has asked Congress to create a permanent relocation site for 3,000 families living near Mayon Volcano.

Daep also said that the six-kilometer zone around Mayon Volcano was declared a “no-settlement zone” because of the volcano’s sudden and unpredictable activities.

“We need Congress to enact a law to relocate those staying inside the permanent danger zone,” Daep said.
