Evacuation, almost complete

Almost 94% of the residents in the areas surrounding Mayon volcano have been evacuated. Albay Governor Joey Salceda assures resident that their temporary shelter is more than adequate. According to Salceda, there are no more residents left inside the 6-8km permanent danger zone. According to PHIVOLCS, Mayon Volcano may explode this week or within the month.

24-hour curfew in Albay

The local government of Albay will implement a 24-hour curfew in the areas inside the 6-8km permanent danger zone around Mayon Volcano. The curfew was implemented after the forced or compulsory evacuation of residents living near the said volcano. Increasing abnormalities in Mayon

There is a marked increase on the abnormal activity of Mayon Volcano in the past 24 hours. According to a PHIVOLCS report, a total of 245 rockfall events have been recorded. Authorities have increased their efforts on evacuating residents living near the said volcano.

Mayon Volcano on Alert Level 3

PHIVOLCS raised Mayon Volcano to Alert Level 3 as it continues to register volcanic activity. PHIVOLCS added that they recorded a rockfall event in the said volcano. Low-level volcanic earthquakes were also recorded, indicating volcanic gas activity.
