24-hour curfew in Albay

The local government of Albay will implement a 24-hour curfew in the areas inside the 6-8km permanent danger zone around Mayon Volcano.

The curfew was implemented after the forced or compulsory evacuation of residents living near the said volcano.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police will be responsible in implementing said curfew, to ensure that no one will return to the said danger zone.

Albay Governor Joey Salceda said that they will not conduct rescue operations once the volcano erupts.

The government will spend 3.5 million pesos every day for food, medicine, fuel and others that will be used in the evacuation.
