Casualties reported in Bilibid clash: BuCor

(Eagle News)–Casualties have been reported after a clash between two warring groups in the New Bilibid Prison early this morning. Bureau of Corrections spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said the clash between the warring Sputnik and Commando gangs took place at 2:30 a.m. The number of injured has yet to be determined. Chaclag said a probe is also ongoing.  

NBP inmate Jaybee Sebastian dies due to complications from COVID-19

(Eagle News)–New Bilibid Prison inmate Jaybee Sebastian has died reportedly due to complications from COVID-19. The body of Sebastian, who had accused Senator Leila de Lima of being  a protector of illegal drugs, was immediately cremated. De Lima faces charges in connection with her alleged involvement in the Bilibid drug trade when she was justice secretary. BuCor suspends prison visits amid COVID-19 threat

(Eagle News) — The Bureau of Corrections is suspending visitation privileges in its prison facilities amid the novel coronavirus threat. In an advisory, the BuCor’s public information office said the suspension, which starts on Wednesday, March 11, covers the New Bilibid Prison and all other operating prison and penal farms. Visiting privileges of inmates in Bilibid maximum compound restored

(Eagle News)–Jail authorities have announced the restoration of visiting privileges for inmates in the New Bilibid Prison’s maximum security compound. In an announcement, the Bureau of Corrections said these will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 30. No visitation is, however, allowed  during Mondays and Tuesdays. 16 NCRPO cops who tried to slip in contraband items at the NBP in hot water; Sinas orders probe
