(Eagle News)–Around 70 members of the Special Action Force were deployed on Tuesday, Oct. 8, to guard the New Bilibid Prison.

The SAF personnel from the 33rd Special Action Company, 3rd Special Action Battalion replaced their colleagues from the 72nd Special Action Company, 7th Special Action Battalion earlier deployed to the national penitentiary.

The National Capital Region Police Office said the 70 SAF members would be deployed to “critical areas” in the NBP “as part of the administration’s efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs, crime and corruption” there.

“Wala naman akong masasabi sa dating SAF na andito kaso kailangan nating gawin ito para marefresh kayo at fresh blood naman ang susunod para sa pagbabago ng BuCor,” BuCor director-general Gerald Bantag said during the changing of the guard.

To the newly deployed SAF members, Bantag had this to say: “Inaasahan ko kayo na magpaka-SAF. Patunayan ninyo na SAF kayo.”

Bantag replaced Nicanor Faeldon, who was asked to resign following the release of some convicts of heinous crimes under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.

Duterte himself picked Bantag, who was BuCor Mimaropa regional director before his new assignment.

Justice Secretary Menardo has ordered Bantag to clean up the GCTA mess, implement computerization and stop the illegal drug trade in BuCor.

NCRPO, BuCor and SAF leads Ceremonial Changing of Guards; Details new members of SAF at the NBP

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director, PMGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR together with Special Action Force (SAF) Director PMGEN AMANDO CLIFTON B EMPISO and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) DIRECTOR GENERAL GERALD Q BANTAG led the Ceremonial Changing of Guards of elite personnel from the Special Action Force (SAF) deployed at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Around seventy (70) new members from the elite SAF troopers will now be guarding criticial areas of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa, as part of the administration’s efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs, crime and corruption in the national penitentiary.

The incoming detailed guards came from the 33rd Special Action Company, 3rd Special Action Battalion (33 SAC, 3 SAB) in replacement of the former guards from the 72nd Special Action Company, 7th Special Action Battalion (72 SAC, 7 SAB).

As he graced the short ceremony, BuCor DIRECTOR GENERAL BANTAG first off expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the NCRPO Chief and all those who helped him carry through the new endeavor of cleansing BuCor as its new Director.

“Nais kong magpasalamat ng malaki kay NCRPO Chief PMGEN ELEAZAR dahil sa simula palang ay siya na mismo ang sumuporta sa’kin dito,” DIRECTOR GENERAL BANTAG said.

“Wala naman akong masasabi sa dating SAF na nandito kaso kailangan nating gawin ito para ma-refresh kayo at fresh blood naman ang susunod para sa pagbabago ng BuCor,” he added.

At the same time, BuCor DIRECTOR GENERAL BANTAG reminded the elite police force to spurn possible bribes from inmates.

“Dito kailangan maging matibay ka sa lakas at dami ng suhol. Hindi ka naman mamamatay kung tanggihan yun diba,” he stressed.

He further challenged the new set of troopers to man NBP saying, “Sa SAF, inaasahan ko kayo na magpaka-SAF. Patunayan ninyo na SAF kayo.”

Over 70 new SAF troopers were detailed Tuesday at the NBP on their first day of manning amid internal and external threats that needs to be addressed at the NBP.

The newly-installed BuCor Director also thanked the media practitioners who were present on the ceremony.

“Media, kayo ang tutulong sa amin para ipakita sa sambayanang Pilipino ang trabaho namin dito,” GENERAL BANTAG said.

“Trabaho lang kami dito walang personalan,” he added.

Meanwhile, the outgoing members of the 72nd Special Action Company, 7th Special Action Battalion (72 SAC, 7 SAB) were given gracious exit during the said command activity.

Thereafter, in an interview following the Changing of Guards, NCRPO Chief expressed full swing of support to GENERAL BANTAG.

“Dahil nangailangan sila ng tulong, so we provided the personnel at anumang resources na pwede naming ibigay as long as hindi maapektuhan ang ating trabaho,” PMGEN ELEAZAR said.

“Base sa aking pag-iinspekyon, nakita ko na inilagay sila para magbantay ng mga towers pati na rin sa mga entrance para i-check ang mga dumadalaw. Gayunpaman, ipinapaubaya na natin sa BuCor management kung saan sila gagamitin at naniniwala naman tayo na ang role naman natin dito is to check them from time to time para siguraduhin na hindi sila matutukso,” PMGEN ELEAZAR cited following the question as to the specific role of NCRPO inside the NBP.

The new detailed SAF personnel takes part of the initial trench of augmentation to NBP to complete the replacement of all 200 SAF personnel originally been fielded in 2016.
