JUST IN: 4.9-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Saturday, Feb. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 5:28 p.m., had its epicenter 393 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 162 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Cloudy skies, rains expected in PHL today

(Eagle News)–Cloudy skies and rains are expected in the country today. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms as the northeasterlies affect the country. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to  cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

DOH: Number of repatriates from Japan with respiratory illness symptoms at 7

(Eagle News)–The number of repatriates from Japan exhibiting respiratory illness symptoms has reached seven. This is according to Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, who gave an interview over radio dzbb on Saturday, Feb. 29.
