In a statement, PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago said the South Harbor Molecular Laboratory aims to serve the testing requirements for crew change of seafarers in the Port of Manila and Port Capinpin in Orion, Bataan. (Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:19 a.m., was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Bayabas on Sept. 21. The 5.1-magnitude quake had its epicenter 99 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 24 kilometers. No damage to property was expected, but aftershocks were.
