PNP reports 27 more COVID-19 recoveries

(Eagle News)–The Philippine National Police has reported 27 additional COVID-19 recoveries within its ranks. With the addition, the PNP said the number of recoveries rose to 4191 as of Wednesday, 6 p.m. Total COVID-19 cases also climbed to 5531, including the 36 additional cases. DFA repatriates 240 Filipinos from Thailand

(Eagle News)–Over 200 Filipinos were repatriated from Thailand on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Department of Foreign Affairs said the 240 Filipinos who returned to Manila from the Suvarnabhumi Airport included four distressed families with children from the south of that country. PPA formally opens RT-PCR molecular testing lab

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Ports Authority has formally opened an RT-PCR molecular testing laboratory to facilitate the movement of seafarers. In a statement,  PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago said the South Harbor Molecular Laboratory aims to serve the testing requirements for crew change of seafarers in the Port of Manila and Port Capinpin in Orion, Bataan. 5.1-magnitude quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:19 a.m., was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Bayabas on Sept. 21. The 5.1-magnitude quake had its epicenter 99 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 24 kilometers. No damage to property was expected, but aftershocks were.
