PHL COVID-19 cases reach 511,679

(Eagle News)–COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 511,000 mark on Saturday, Jan. 23, after the Department of Health reported 1797 additional cases. Of the total 511,679 cases, the DOH said 33603 were active. Of the active cases, 82.6 percent were mild, 11 percent asymptomatic, 3.8 percent critical, 2.2 percent severe, and 0.41 percent moderate. DFA reports 127 more COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad

The Department of Foreign Affairs said the additional 127 cases pushed the COVID-19 total cases among overseas Filipinos to 13760. 4.1-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental waters

(Eagle News) — A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Friday night. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 8:46 p.m., was an aftershock of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck offshore on Jan. 21. The aftershock had an epicenter 262 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos. It had a depth of 135 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.
