3.8-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Oriental

(Eagle News) — A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Sunday, Aug. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake–an aftershock of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the area on Aug. 12–hit at 6:56 a.m. It had its epicenter 116 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso. The depth of focus was 51 kilometers. According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake was tectonic in origin. No damage to property was reported.  

Philippine Coast Guard starts building K-9 training facility, first in Southeast Asia

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Coast Guard is building a K-9 training facility, the first of its kind in the entire Southeast Asia region. According to the PCG, the facility shall serve as the country’s center for comprehensive and advanced training for all Coast Guard working dogs and their handlers. PNP reports 143 more COVID-19 cases

(Eagle News) — Over 100 more COVID-19 cases have been reported among police personnel. According to the Philippine National Police, the additional 143 COVID-19 cases pushed the total PNP COVID-19 cases to 34316. Of these, 1917 are active. Recoveries also increased, now at 32295, with the addition of 76 recoveries. The COVID-19 death toll among policemen is at 104, including one additional death. DOTr waives rental fees for NAIA concessionaires for entire 2021

(Eagle News) — All  Ninoy Aquino International Airport concessionaires won’t have to pay their rental fees in the meantime. This was after the Manila International Airports Authority (MIAA) Board approved the waiver of the same effective July 1 until December 2021, Transportation Secretary Art Tugade announced.
