Thunderstorm advisory hoisted over parts of Mindanao

(Eagle News)–A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over parts of Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms are expected over Agusan del Sur, Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Sibugay within one to two hours. 3.5-magnitude quake hits Cotabato

(Eagle News) — A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Cotabato early Monday, December 2. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 23 kilometers southwest of Makilala at 6:55 a.m. Depth of focus was 26 kilometers. The following intensity and instrumental intensity were recorded: Intensity Intensity III- Kidapawan City Instrumental Intensity Intensity III- Kidapawan City No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Yellow rainfall warning hoisted over N. Samar

(Eagle News)–A yellow rainfall warning has been hoisted over Northern Samar. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said flooding is expected in low-lying areas, near river channels and landslides in mountainous areas in that area. Light to moderate to at times heavy rains are being experienced in Bicol Region, particularly in Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte. PAGASA said these may persist for one to three hours.  

PHIVOLCS issues Taal Volcano advisory due to “Tisoy”

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has issued a   Taal volcano advisory, with “Tisoy’s” track expected to include Calabarzon. In the advisory, PHIVOLCS  reiterated that the entire volcano island was strictly a  Permanent Danger Zone and is not recommended for permanent settlement at all times. Lahar advisory hoisted over Bulusan Volcano

3.1-magnitude quake jolts Leyte

(Eagle News)–A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Leyte on Friday night, Nov. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Saturday, Nov. 30, that the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 10 kilometers southwest of Capoocan at 9:09 p.m. Depth of focus was 7 kilometers. An intensity II was felt in Capoocan. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Northeast monsoon affecting N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–The northeast monsoon  will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains in parts of Northern Luzon today.
