Free MRT-3 rides during selected hours on Monday, Dec. 30

(Eagle News)-The Metro Rail Transit-3 is giving free train rides on selected hours on Monday, Dec. 30. The MRT-3 said the free rides could be availed of from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The free rides are in celebration of Rizal Day, which aims to commemorate the heroism of the country’s national hero Jose Rizal.

MRT-3: Short circuit in traction motor caused train to emit smoke on Monday, Nov. 4

(Eagle News) — A short circuit in one of the traction motors caused a Metro Rail Transit-3 train to emit smoke at the Santolan station on Monday, Nov. 4. This was according to maintenance provider Sumitomo-MHI-TESP, which conducted a probe following the incident that saw around 500 passengers unloaded, the MRT-3 said. Free MRT-3 rides for minors on Wednesday, Nov. 6

(Eagle News) — Minors can avail of free Metro Rail Transit-3 rides on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The MRT-3 said children 18 years old and below may avail of the free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on that day. The management said they only need to present their school identification cards. The MRT-3 said this is in celebration of the 27th National Children’s Month.

No extension of MRT-3 operating hours this holiday season

Three additional train coaches to hit MRT-3 tracks starting today, Oct. 15

(Eagle News)–Three additional train coaches will hit the Metro Rail Transit-3 tracks starting today, Oct. 15, the MRT-3 said. MRT-3: Teachers can avail of free train rides on Saturday, Oct. 5

(Eagle News)–The Metro Rail Transit-3 is offering free train rides to teachers on Saturday, Oct. 5. In a statement, the MRT-3 said they can avail of the free rides from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. They only need to present their Professional Regulatory Commission  license or their faculty identification card to avail of the same. The free rides are in celebration of National Teachers’ Day.  

93 new airconditioning units installed in MRT-3 trains

(Eagle News)–The Department of Transportation has announced the installation of 93 new airconditioning units in Metro Rail Transit-3 trains. The DOTr said the units were apart from the 33 installed in August and the 60 installed in 2018. The agency said Sumitomo MHI-TESP  purchased over 120 airconditioning units worth P167 million under the comprehensive rehabilitation of the MRT-3. MRT-3 resumes full operations

(Eagle News)–The Metro Rail Transit 3  resumed full operations on Friday, Sept. 6. The MRT-3 management said as of 5 p.m., trains from North Ave. to Taft Ave. and vice versa were already operational. MRT-3 trains from N. Ave to Shaw Boulevard, vice versa, now operational

(Eagle News)–Operations of the Metro Rail Transit-3 have partially resumed. In a recent advisory, the MRT-3 said now operational were the trains going from North Avenue Station to Shaw Boulevard Station and vice versa. So far, repair work to restore the full service in the entire line is still ongoing. (Eagle News)–Metro Rail Transit-3 operations were suspended on Friday, Sept. 6. An advisory from MRT-3 said the suspension starting 6:42 a.m. was due to a cable of the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) being cut at the northbound Guadalupe Station, which caused insufficient power supply from Shaw Boulevard to Santolan.
