No extension of MRT-3 operating hours this holiday season

(Eagle News)–The Metro Rail Transit-3 will not extend its operating hours this holiday season.

In a statement, the MRT-3 said this was to pave the way for the “full-blast rail replacement activities.”

“Maglalaan po muna tayo ng sapat na oras at panahon para sa rail replacement in the last three months of this year. Masyado na pong sira-sira at baku-bako ang ating mga riles kaya kinakailangan na po talaga itong mapalitan sa lalong madaling panahon,” MRT-3 Director for Operations Michael Capati said.

According to Capati, the MRT-3 hopes to complete the railway activities by February 2021.

He said once completed, there would be  lesser disruption of operations, and quicker trains, thus reducing the waiting time of passengers.

He said this would also enable the MRT-3 to service twice the number of passengers it services now.
