3.9-magnitude quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:52 a.m., had its epicenter 117 kilometers northeast of Bayabas. PHIVOLCS said this was an aftershock of the 5.7-magnitude quake that struck Bayabas on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The quake had a depth of one kilometer. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.  

Sanofi and GSK to provide 72 million vaccine doses to Canada

COVID-19 cases in PHL breach 291,000 mark with 1635 newly-announced cases

(Eagle News)–COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 291,000 mark on Tuesday, Sept. 22, after the Department of Health reported 1635 cases. The DOH said of the total 291,789, 56097 were active. Of these, 86.4 percent were mild, 9.2 percent asymptomatic, 1.3 percent severe, and 3.1 percent critical.
