PAGASA: LPA east of Mindanao may enter PAR today

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a low pressure area east of Mindanao. In its latest advisory, PAGASA said the LPA, which is located 1145 kilometers east of southern Philippines, may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility today. Customs bureau destroys P10 million worth of illegally imported cosmetics, expired meds, others

(Eagle News)–The Bureau of Customs has destroyed P10 million worth of illegally imported cosmetics, expired medicines and other goods. In a statement, the bureau said the 24.6 “hazardous and unsafe goods” intercepted by Ninoy Aquino International Airport personnel were destroyed in separate instances, on Oct. 17 and 19, at  the Integrated Waste Management Inc., in Trece Martires, Cavite. The bureau said the goods were imported without the necessary Food and Drug Administration  registration and permits. […]

4.0-magnitude quake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes early Friday, Oct. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck 116 kilometers southeast of Basco at 3:47 a.m. It had a depth of one kilometer, and was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

(Eagle News)–Seven volcanic earthquakes were monitored at Kanlaon in 24 hours. PNP COVID-19 recovery tally reaches 6,276 with 40 additional recoveries

(Eagle News)–Forty additional COVID-19 recoveries have been reported among police personnel, the Philippine National Police said. According to the PNP, with the addition, the PNP COVID-19 recovery tally rose to 6276 as of Wednesday night. Thirty additional COVID-19 cases, however, pushed the tally to 6934. DFA reports 4 more COVID-19 recoveries among Filipinos abroad

  (Eagle News)–Four more overseas Filipinos have recovered from COVID-19. With the additional recoveries, the Department of Foreign Affairs said the total number of recoveries among Filipinos abroad rose to 7248 as of Thursday. (Eagle News)–A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Friday, Oct. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:10 a.m., had its epicenter 47 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino. It had a depth of 139 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
