4.5-magnitude earthquake hits Batangas

(Eagle News) — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas on Saturday, January 16. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:48 a.m., had its epicenter 12 kilometers southwest of Calatagan. It had a depth of 135 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were reported: Intensity I – Calatagan, Batangas; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Plaridel, Bulacan No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

Cloudy skies, rains expected due to tail-end of frontal system, northeast monsoon
