Surigao del Sur niyanig ng magnitude 4.9 na lindol

(Eagle News) — Niyanig ng magnitude 4.9 na lindol ang bayan ng Cortes sa Surigao Del Sur kaninang umaga. Ayon sa Philippine Institute and Volcanology and Seismology  (PHIVOLCS), naitala ang pagyanig sa 30 kilometers north ng bayan ng Cortes kaninang alas 5:54 umaga. May lalim na 22 kilometers at tectonic ang origin ng pagyanig. Wala namang naitalang pagkasira ng mga ari-arian, intensities at aftershocks.

Military chief visits MILF camp for first time

  (Eagle News)—-The Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez  Jr. recently visited a Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s camp. Galvez visited Camp Darapanan in Maguindanao in particular, pictures provided by the military showed. According to the AFP, this is the first time the military chief visited an MILF camp.

Suspect in deadly Isulan blasts killed in military, police operation

(Eagle News)–One of the suspects in the deadly Isulan, Sultan Kudarat blasts was killed in an operation by security forces on Saturday, Oct. 6. Killed was Norodin Taib, an alleged member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters. Authorities said Taib threw a grenade at police and military who were approaching his house in Barangay Kuloy, Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao. This prompted the authorities to retaliate. (Eagle News) — Five agents of the  Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were killed in an ambush in Lanao del Sur on Friday, October 5. Authorities said Kenneth Tabulo, Lores Joy Amar, Kristine Mae Torlao, Binzo Dipolla and Diobel Pacinio were killed after the van they were in was fired at as it was on its way to Marawi. Vice mayor injured  (Eagle News)–The mayor of a La Union town and two others died after the vehicle he was riding was fired at by still-unidentified assailants on Monday, Oct. 1.
