PNP files charges vs 10 suspects in ambush of PDEA agents in Lanao del Sur

(Eagle News) — The Philippine National Police has filed criminal charges against ten individuals allegedly behind the ambush of five Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents in Lanao del Sur.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde did not identify the suspects in a radio interview on Wednesday, Oct. 10, but said they were members of a drug trafficking group.

Albayalde said the PDEA had conducted a successful anti-drug campaign in the area.

“Mukhang retaliation po yung nangyari,” Albayalde said.

Earlier, PDEA Chief Director General Aaron Aquino said they were looking at the possibility some local politicians, including a Marawi councilor, who are relatives of the perpetrators of the crime had a hand in the killing of the agents.
