Alert Level 4 still hoisted over Taal as intense seismic activity continues

(Eagle News)–An alert level 4 remains hoisted over Taal, as the Taal Volcano Network recorded over  700 volcanic earthquakes in the volcano for the past 24 hours. In its 8 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the 787 volcanic earthquakes included 15 low-frequency earthquakes. 3.8-magnitude quake hits Batangas

(Eagle News)–A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas on Sunday, Jan. 19. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 6:56 a.m., had its epicenter 5 kilometers southwest of Laurel. It had a depth of focus of 1 kilometer. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Tagaytay. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
