(Eagle News)–Hundreds of Filipinos are participating in Phase III trials of a potential COVID-19 vaccine in the United Arab Emirates, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. DOTr to require contactless transactions at tollways

(Eagle News)–The Department of Transportation will soon be requiring cashless or contactless transactions at tollways. In a statement, the DOTr said  Transportation Secretary Art Tugade has signed Department Order 2020-012, which directed concerned agencies of the DOTr  to formulate new processes and procedures within three  months to ensure the smooth implementation of the new policy. (Eagle News)–A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Monday, Aug. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 8:24 a.m., had its epicenter 42 kilometers northeast of Baganga. COVID-19 cases in PHL top 189,000; 16,459 recoveries reported today

(Eagle News)–The number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases in the country topped 189,000 on Sunday, Aug. 23, after the Department of Health reported 2,378 additional cases. According to the DOH, of the 189,601 total COVID-19 cases, 55236 were active. Of these, 91.5 percent were mild, 6.1 percent asymptomatic, 1 percent severe, and 1.4 percent critical. PHIVOLCS: 20 volcanic quakes monitored at Taal in 24 hours, alert level 1 still raised

Mauban, Quezon mayor tests positive for COVID-19

DFA repatriates 257 Filipinos from Uzbekistan

(Eagle News)–The Department of Foreign Affairs has repatriated 257 Filipinos from Uzbekistan amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The DFA said the special chartered flight carrying mostly documented overseas contract workers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Saturday evening.
