DOT: 305 establishments in Boracay now accredited

(Eagle News)–Over 300 establishments have been accredited in Boracay. The Department of Tourism said as of Thursday, Jan. 10, the 305 establishments translate to 10,515 rooms. Boracay was shut down for six months in 2018 to pave the way for its rehabilitation. This was after President Rodrigo Duterte called the island a “cesspool.” The island was reopened in October, with authorities also limiting the number of tourists allowed.    

Two suspects in Cotabato mall blast charged

(Eagle News)—Charges have been filed against two suspects behind the bombing of a Cotabato mall on Dec. 31. Charged with two counts of murder and 34 counts of frustrated murder were Salipudin Lauban Pasandalan and a certain Saed Nur Kasim. The charges were filed before the Cotabato Prosecutors Office. 5.4-magnitude quake jolts Zamboanga del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Zamboanga del Norte on Monday, Jan. 7. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck 22 kilometers northwest of Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte at 11:11 a.m. Intensity IV was felt in Zamboanga City, PHIVOLCS said. The quake, which had a depth of focus of 35 kilometers, was tectonic in origin. No aftershocks were expected.

126 killed, 75 injured due to “Usman”
