Afghanistan and Pakistan jolted by strong 6.1 quake: USGS

  KABUL, Afghanistan (AFP) — A strong earthquake rattled Afghanistan and Pakistan on Friday afternoon, the US Geological Survey said, forcing residents into the streets in Kabul and Islamabad. Death toll from Davao del Sur earthquake rises to 11

(Eagle News) — The death toll in the 6.9-magnitude quake that hit Mindanao on Sunday has risen to 11, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. According to the NDRRMC, of the 11,  10 were recorded in Region XI while one was  recorded in Region XII. The number of those injured was at 111, the NDRRMC said. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 11 kilometers southwest of Kiblawan at 1:32 p.m. Depth of focus was 16 kilometers. (Eagle News) — All national roads and bridges in areas affected by Sunday’s (Dec. 15) magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao are passable, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
