4.0-magnitude quake hits Batangas

(Eagle News)-A 4.0-magnitude quake struck Batangas on Monday, Jan. 13. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 9:07 a.m. , had its epicenter 3 kilometers southwest of Laurel. It had a depth of focus of 7 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was recorded in Tagaytay City. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Batangas gov’t: Talisay, Agoncillo, Laurel, San Nicolas most affected areas in province

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 11:56 p.m., had its epicenter 7 kilometers northeast of Agoncillo. Depth of focus was 8 kilometers. (Eagle News)-Work in all Metro Manila courts is suspended tomorrow, Jan. 12. A statement from the Supreme Court said Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta made the suspension  “in the interest of everyone’s health and safety” as ashfall due to Taal reached several cities in Metro Manila. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has hoisted an alert level 4 over Taal, which means an eruption was imminent.
