5.2-magnitude quake hits Cagayan

(Eagle News)–A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Cagayan on Sunday, May 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 38 kilometers northwest of Calayan at 4:59 p.m. An intensity III was reported in Aparri, Cagayan. The following instrumental intensities were also recorded: Intensity II – Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Claveria, Cagayan No damage to property was recorded but aftershocks are expected.

3.0-magnitude quake hits Catanduanes

(Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Catanduanes on Sunday, May 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 24 kilometers southeast of Virac. The depth of focus of the quake was 49 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
