3.9-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit  at 12:11 p.m., had its epicenter 41 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. Depth of focus was 24 kilometers. An instrumental Intensity I was recorded in General Santos City; Malungon, Sarangani. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Tehran, Iran (AFP)–Iranian Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday responded to the assassination of commander Qassem Soleimani with a missile attack on an Iraqi airbase used by the US military, Iranian state media said. The IRGC confirmed the Ain al-Assad base was hit “with tens of missiles” and promised “more crushing responses” in case of further US attacks, the state-run PressTV said on Twitter.
