3.5-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Wednesday, May 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, an aftershock of the 6.5-magnitude quake that struck Eastern Samar on April 26,  hit 26 kilometers southeast of San Julian at 5:32 a.m. The depth of focus was 42 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.  

3.5-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur early Tuesday, April 30. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which was of tectonic origin, hit 22 kilometers southeast of Lingig at 3:46 a.m. The depth of focus was 29 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.  

Several aftershocks hit Surigao del Norte anew on Monday, April 29

(Eagle News)–Several aftershocks hit Surigao del Norte anew on Monday, April 29. Based on data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the aftershocks, which range from the 1.4 to 3.7 magnitudes, number at 14. They took place from 12:34 a.m. to 5:25 a.m., and were aftershocks of the 5.5-magnitude quake that struck the province on April 26. No damage to property was expected.

Based on data provided by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, those with at least a magnitude of 3.0 took place from 12:52 a.m. to 8:41 a.m. The highest magnitude of the quake that struck in that period was 4. NGCP hoists yellow alert over Luzon grid on Saturday, April 27

(Eagle News)—The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines hoisted a yellow alert over Luzon grid on Saturday, April 27. (Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Saturday, April 27. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 65 kilometers southeast of General Luna at 7:10 a.m. The quake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of focus of 7 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

4.0-magnitude quake hits Leyte

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake hit Leyte on Friday, April 26. The quake struck 7 kilometers northeast of Albuera at 10:44 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. The depth of focus of the quake, which was of tectonic origin, was 2 kilometers. An Intensity III was reported in Ormoc. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

UPDATED: Three killed in helicopter crash in Malolos, Bulacan

(Eagle News) — Three people were killed after a private chopper crashed in a fishpond in Malolos, Bulacan on Thursday, April 25. Authorities said Liberato Laus, chair of the Laus Group of companies, was killed after the helicopter, with body number RPC8098, crashed in Barangay Anilao at 12:50 p.m. His bodyguard and the pilot were also killed. An investigation into the cause of the incident is still ongoing.
