(Eagle News)–A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck North Cotabato on Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. (Eagle News)–A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Basilan on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 74 kilometers southeast of Tuburan at 2:59 a.m. Depth of focus was three kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 126 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos at 9:37 a.m. Depth of focus was 33 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Rainfall advisory hoisted over parts of N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–A rainfall advisory has been hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said light to moderate rains are expected over Cagayan, in Alcala, Amulung, Baggao and  Gattaran. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 12 kilometers southeast of Tulunan at 7:55 a.m. Depth of focus was five kilometers. Thunderstorm advisory hoisted over Zambales, other areas

(Eagle News)–A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over Zambales and other areas. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are also expected over Tarlac and Pampanga within the next two hours. “All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said.

BFAR: Drop in salinity levels in some Cavite water bodies may have caused reported shellfish deaths

(Eagle News)–Heavy rainfall that led to drops in the salinity levels of select water bodies in Bacoor and Sangley Point in Cavite may have caused the reported deaths of shellfish there. In a statement, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources said based on laboratory results, the level of salinity was found to range from 19 to 25 ppt, lower than the 27 to 35 ppt salinity level required for shellfish to survive.
