4.1-magnitude quake jolts Cotabato

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake hit Cotabato on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 22 kilometers southeast of Tulunan at 8:07 a.m. Depth of focus was 12 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

4.9-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Saturday, Nov. 9. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 225 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at 3:57 a.m. Depth of focus was 70 kilometers. The following instrumental intensity was recorded: Instrumental Intensity: Intensity II – Malungon, Sarangani No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Typhoon “Quiel” exits PAR

(Eagle News)–Typhoon “Quiel” has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to occasionally heavy rains, however, are being experienced over Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga and Lallo in Cagayan and in Ilagan City and Maconacon in Isabela. Another PMA cadet dies, body found at bottom of PMA pool

(Eagle News)–Another Philippine Military Academy cadet has died. The PMA said Cadet 4th Class Mario Telen, Jr. was found dead in the 15-foot deep end of the PMA pool. Telen had been unaccounted for after he attended his swimming class from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, the PMA said. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival at the PMA Station Hospital. “Quiel” intensifies into a typhoon

(Eagle News)–“Quiel” has intensified into a typhoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. SC grants QC judge’s request for extension of deadline to decide Maguindanao massacre case
